Yellow Baboon Habitat Use, Ranging & Diet

Since 2011 we have conducted monthly follows of a single troop of yellow baboons in the study area, focusing on space use, diet, and activity budget.  Moreover, by simultaneously monitoring chimpanzee and baboon ranging and diet in the study area, we have begun to investigate feeding competition intensity between these two species. Specifically, we are interested in over what what foods these two species compete?  What strategies do baboons invoke to avoid direct competition with chimpanzees?  Also, as part of our collaboration with Sascha Knauf (DPZ) into Treponema infection in baboons, we are monitoring infection rates at regular intervals in the focal troop.
